In the summer of 2023, we purchased a 1968 Frolic from some nice people in San Jose to upgrade the 1964 Aladdin we have been dragging around for the 3 years. The Aladdin was smaller, did not have a bathroom and was badly in-need of a complete re-build (hey, you can see the road from under the seats!). Michelle found Summer through vintage classifieds. We made the trek down to San Jose on a Thursday afternoon with Scott ‘working remotely’ in the passenger seat while Michelle drove with stars in her eyes.
We immediately fell in love with this unique 16’5″ trailer with two doors, adorable kitchen, shower, bathroom and warm wood all the way through the interior. A few trips and overnights with Summer in 2023 and into 2024 led us to do a “cosmetic” update to her in the Spring, but it became a much bigger project once the doors were off and the restoration team got a look under the skin. Anyhow, our (now) friends Jeremy and Rene’ at Down River Trailers did a fantastic job bringing Michelle’s vision to life resulting in a truly beautiful, comfortable, stylish and functional home away from home.
