We just came home from Alicia Likkel’s piano students recital. Below is Jackson playing three pieces including the Harry Potter them and Old MacDonald had to rock. Enjoy!
What a Fun Summer it Is!
Hello! Sorry it has been so long since we’ve posted, but it’s been a go-go summer (as always) and the time seems to slip away. One of my goals was to get Lindsay posting on the blog, but she’s been busy with her own activities like camp Sealth (with Jackson, Jessie and friends), working with her dog Lucy, lots of sleep overs and extended weekends with friends, babysitting gigs, lots of time in Mazama and a trip to Santa Cruz with Michelle.
Jackson went to camp Sealth as well, he and I did a river raft down the Yakima with the cub scout pack, soccer camp, play dates with his buddies like Findly and Davis, lots of time in Mazama, playing with his hamster Yoshi and sleeping in late.
Michelle has had her hands full wrangling the family, going to Mazama, Jacqui and Greg’s wedding in Hawaii, trip to Santa Cruz for a bridal shower, zoo concert organization and the massive garden that looks wonderful.
My time has been focused on my new job, getting to Mazama as much as possible, tennis, zoo tunes, small projects around the house, some guitar and watering the garden while Michelle is away.
We’re looking forward to a long week in Mazama at the end of August, beginning of Sept., gearing up for school, going to Santa Cruz in Sept for Erica’s wedding and all the fun things that fall brings (including a new season of Top Chef!).
Aloha and best wishes to you and your fishes!
New Years in Mazama 2008 (into 2009)
We love Mazama for New Years! The day after Christmas we took down the tree, took the recycling to the transfer station, ran errands, packed and got ready to go to Mazama! Phil Dietz went to the cabin a couple of days ahead of our visit and tried to turn on the water and make sure everything was OK, but due to the really cold weather (below zero Fahrenheit) and lack of snow (no insulation on the ground) the water pump froze up. He dropped a heater in there, but once that unfroze we had a massive leak coming out from behind the water heater. The pipes under the bathtub ruptured. Luckily Phil’s plumber was available to check it out and he was able to get us cold water into the house (but not to the toilet). Lots of water heating, manual flushing and showers at friends houses ensued!
We had a blast anyhow as The Dennis clan came out to share New Years with us at a big Bon Fire at Phil and Stewarts house, cross country skiing (skate skiing for the kids, classic for the adults), snow shoeing, sledding, movies, food and hanging out. We spent time with our neighbors – Gordie & Sandy Northcutt and Jason & Cathy Ireland plus their two kids – and our Mazama posse – Don and Dana, Phil and Stewart.
Christmas 2008 in Seattle
Boy, the holiday season was a blur. The kids got out of school three days early due to two days of snow (the got out the first day because of the THREAT of snow – please), I went to Bellingham to get Barbara (my mom) because of the lousy road conditions in Seattle with all the snow and ice and we were lucky enough to have her for some extra days. Unfortunately, Carl (my dad) was unable to come up to share Christmas this year and we have yet (on Jan 7th) to connect with Michelle’s parents and brother yet because they couldn’t come up on Christmas day due to the weather. Anyhow, lots of fun time with the new puppy Lucy (black lab), her sister Carly (the blonde one) who we puppy sat while the Axtel’s were in Florida and a great trip to Mazama (next post). Enjoy the snaps!
Lindsay Was Accepted to Seattle Girls School!
We’re very happy to announce that Lindsay will be attending Seattle Girls School starting next year. After looking a four public schools (Whitman, Hamilton, Eckstein, Washington) and four private schools (Seattle Girls School, Lake Washington School for Girls, Seattle Academy, hazop …) and applying to two on each side, we were most excited about SGS and Eckstein.
So, now we’re looking for car pool partners – anyone?
